"Podcast"

Sometimes I do not want to sit down and write. It might take way less time to sit down and write a review of a work than to spend the many hours needed to record a conversation with a friend of mine and then edit it into a viewable/listenable form, but, at the same time, that second process is more enjoyable than the first, or so it appears to me, especially in regards to talking to my friends.

Thus, I have decided that I will partake in the substantially marred form of "podcast"-ing, even though there is no "pod" in which the "podcast" is being hosted, and I broadly denounce Joe Rogan's statements and deeds. These will be conversations about things that I might have otherwise written a review for, but wound up lacking the interest to do so. It is a matter of motivation, perhaps, or something else, related to procrastination and prioritization.

When I sit down to write a review, nowadays, I feel as though I am wasting my time, when I could be doing something more important or productive. I could be working on my novels, I could be working on my other projects, such as the games I am concocting, but, instead, I am writing down my thoughts in almost gratuitous detail about something that I am, most likely, not passionate about. Thus, I have decided that I will not procrastinate by writing full-length reviews about things I am not passionate about, and will, instead, fulfill that desire of mine for deeper engagement with another's work through these conversations.

Our analysis and discussion might appear surface-level-ish, though, fortunately, it does not involve these painful summaries of the entirety of the discussed work's plot with a few minutes of interspersed commentary. That is what I'm vehemently opposed to - that form of 'review' or 'critique' that wastes the reader/viewer's time by assuming they have no idea of what is being spoken of, those that cater to the lowest common denominator, who wants to engage in deep contemplation of a thing without first coming to know of the thing through interaction with it. An example would be the multitude of videos on video games that attempt to analyze said games, but instead spend 85% of their run-time summarizing the plot of the game and explaining what happens in it instead of actually doing what is advertised as being done.

For the moment, there are two "podcasts" - one relates to books, the other relates to anime. There may be more in due time.

We are decently educated, and try to keep a level, though our minds have been rotted away by social media to an extent where the damage has no choice but to leak through.

Crime and Punishment, Dostoyevsky: (watch-here)(on-youtube)
